CITY LIFE LIVELY LIFE- MOST BEAUTIFUL SKYLINES IN THE WORLD by Anuska Bagchi

Standing atop the Vidya Sagar setu, hair fluttering in the soft breeze, I gaze out into the horizon. I am yet again struck by how small and insignificant we are, yet the footsteps that we leave behind are so incorrigibly big.

So beautiful is the world that we have created for ourselves.

Here are my top 10 cities that house Skylines and offer the world's most unforgettable and bewildering vistas.

10. Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

RIO DE JANEIRO AT NIGHT

Rio de Janeiro's beauty has been sung several times. Rio de Janeiro's skyline is more influenced by geography than any other city's.

.

LIGHTS FLOODING RIO

Whilst the statue of Christ the Redeemer unquestionably dominates the city, it is the city's location along the Atlantic coast, with some of the world's paramount beaches, the vast expanse of the Tijuca Forest, and numerous sloping hills that create the city's amazing urban panoramas. The beauty of Rio de Janeiro is undeniable

9. Tokyo, Japan

VIEW OF THE TOKYO SKYLINE FROM SHINJUKU

We are all aware of the  famousTokyo skyline silhouette, hence coming in at number 9 of our list is the Tokyo Skyline. Tokyo's skyline is on a league of its own.

TOKYO AT DAWN

Mt. Fuji to the west and Tokyo Bay to the south, as well as numerous unusual structures and towers, can be seen on a clear day. One will feel as if one is looking out at a sea of stars at night.

 8. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR'S STARTLING BEAUTY

In Malaysia's capital, skyscrapers sprout like seeds. It's a fight to gain a good view with such an amazing, everchanging skyline. There are numerous rooftop pubs and restaurants from which to enjoy a panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, and, like the skyline itself, there is always a new spot with a greater perspective.

7. Alberobello, Italy

ALBEROBELLO'S QUAINT COTTAGES IN CONTRAST WITH THE SKY

Hidden well inside Italy's heel, Puglia is the home to many a quaint wonders. From the 13th century strange citadel in a fascinating octagonal shape, Castel del Monte to the trullo shaped huts in alberobello. Alberobello in particular is a marvel. While this maybe the most unknown in our list, it's in no way inferior. Alberobello has one of the most beautifully underrated skylines in the world I dare say.

THE CASTEL DE MONTE, PUGLIA

6. Frankfurt, Germany

ETHEREAL FRANKFURT

Home to the River Main and Germany’s only skyline, Frankfurt is a winner. With over 5 buildings that crossed the 200 metres mark, Frankfurt expresses a contrasting picture of low rise European architecture and modern high rise skyscrapers. It is especially a delight during the day.

FRANKFURT DURING THE RUSH HOUR

Although Frankfurt may not have many skyscrapers with respect to the others on the list, it is an extremely well planned city all the same.

5. Hong Kong

HONG KONG IN ALL IT'S GLORY

Hong Kong's metropolitan skyline is unquestionably one of the most photographed in the world.

UNPARALLED BEAUTY

The former British colony claims to have the world's greatest collection of structures taller than 500 feet (150 metres), giving it the moniker "world's most vertical city.

 4. Dubai, UAE

GILDED IN GOLD

Everything big is Dubai. They boast the world’s tallest building, the world’s largest shopping mall, even the world’s largest photograph! Intense ambition and perseverance.

SERENITY OF DUBAI

A jumbled, overlapping sea of opulence, wealth, and architectural prowess, Dubai is the home to 33 structures that are over 200 metres. Seemingly without a plan, the Dubai skyline is so exceedingly extravagant to look at, it would leave you dumbstruck.

3. London, England

THE RIVER THAMES, COTTON CANDY SKIES AND THE CITY

The London skyline is one of the most well-known in the world, and it has long been seen as an important aspect of the city's culture. The combination of old and new structures distinguishes the London skyline from that of other cities. However here's the catch, London is built entirely on clay! This means that London is also slowly submerging in water by the day, decreasing the vertical height of the skyscrapers, yikes!

ON THE SOUTHERN BANK OF THE THAMES

2. Paris, France

OUI VIVRA VERRA

For a huge metropolis with a population of 12 million people and growing, Paris lacks the towers you might expect. Apart from a few carefully separated clusters, the majority of buildings in Paris are no more than five or six stories tall.Despite–or, more precisely, because of–its lack of tall buildings, Paris has one of the most distinctive skylines in the world.

CLANDETINE SKIES AND THE EIFFEL TOWER

1. New York, United States of America

OH, MANHATTAN

Finally, at number 1 we have the big Apple itself, New York. New York City is experiencing a massive surge in the construction of mega-high-rise skyscrapers, which is radically altering the city's famous skyline. Once home to the Twin Towers, new York's rise to fame did not metaphorically shatter with the buildings, instead it rose by an astronomically almost.

I'M IN A NEW YORK STATE OF MIND!
