Kolkata gets its first hanging restaurant - Biswa Bangla Gate
Biswa Bangla Gate |
This steel and glass structure is a unique addition to the many wonders of the city and is designed with materials which make it resistant to all types of natural vulnerabilities.
The gate was opened to the public by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on January 31. There are rooftop restaurants in several metropolitan areas but in India these hanging restaurants are one of a kind.
West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim recently inaugurated the restaurant. It will initially be open to 50 people with a seating capacity of 72 people. A great dining haven, it will be open for guests from 7pm to 10pm, closed to the general public after entering the Biswa Bangla Gate.
Perfect for a romantic dinner with the rising night lights of the city in the background it gives you a terrific view of the city.
